Women Leadership in Conservation
Welcome to the Women Leadership in Conservation Webinar!
Conservation leadership is a dynamic and multifaceted approach to safeguarding our planet's natural resources while promoting sustainable development. Young women have demonstrated the desire to contribute to conservation with technology, innovations, and advocacy, but they can benefit from the experience and insights of seasoned women leaders in the field. These established leaders can offer mentorship, guidance, and knowledge to help young women navigate the complexities of conservation and enhance their impact.
For this reason, we will have a webinar on Friday 17 May 2024 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm CEST, hosting two prominent conservation women leaders: Akilah Jaramogi and Thais Corral.
Akilah, a seasoned environmentalist and founder of the Fondes Amandes Community Reforestation Project in Trinidad and Tobago, brings her wealth of experience in community-driven conservation efforts. Thais, a multiple award-winning social innovator and entrepreneur, women’s rights, and ecological activist who co-founded WEDO (Women, Environment and Development Organization) will offer her insights into Nature-Based Solutions, leadership, and gender equality in conservation. The webinar will be moderated by Sharon Gakii, a young climate justice activist, co-founder of the International Consortium on Climate and Biodiversity (ICCB) and SHE Changes Climate Ambassador for Kenya.
Unite For Climate Solutions: A Women-Led Summit
It is time to look at climate change through a new lens. For too long we have been using the same solutions for new problems. We believe that women in all their diversity, armed with first-hand knowledge can bring a much-needed change in policy-making, community-building and implementation efforts in the fight against climate change. We believe that conversations like this one could turn the tide.
This year, SHE Changes Climate, Project Dandelion and partners invite decision-makers, stakeholders and passionate individuals to address this emergency with renewed vigour. It is time to unlock the potential of women to change climate for the better.
