The countdown to COP26 - Support our #5050Vision
Getting ready for COP26
In the final days before COP26 SHEChangesClimate is ramping up activity to get even more support for our ur #5050Vision. Our global mission is to ensure all delegations, for all climate negotiations, have at least a 50% representation of diverse women at their top levels, now and in the future.
Our campaign has already made an impact:
Our Open Letter received well over 450 signatures from make and female environmental leaders, which drove our movement to snowball from the minute we launched.
The campaign received powerful coverage which highlighted this issue to a UK and global audience. SHE Changes Climate was featured in Financial Times, BBC Newsnight, BBC News, Woman's Hour, The Sun, Marie Claire, and more.
We have more visibility and transparency: We asked for, and got, the appointment of a female deputy lead for Climate Negotiations (although we would have preferred co-leads).
We now have dialogue: We've had several meetings with COP26 members, including Anne Marie Trevelyan (UK International Champion on Adaptation and Resilience for COP26), Alok Sharma (President for COP26) and Peter Hill (CEO of COP26) on separate occasions.
But despite all this, just 2 out of 12 people in the COP26 UK leadership team are women.
We need to ensure this gender imbalance of decision-making doesn’t go unnoticed.
On Friday 29th October until Monday 1st November we need you to take to social media and show how horrified you are by this unfairness. Join the movement by sharing our Halloween-themed assets and messaging to highlight the ghastly goings-on!

“We need women’s representation that reflects all women and girls in all their diversity and abilities, and across all cultural, social, economic, and political situations.” Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka
On 9th November as part of Gender Day, we'll be curating a day long event of inspirational talks and panel discussions at the Pipe Factory, Glasgow. We will reflect on why there was a need to create a movement like SHE Changes Climate, understand what a 50:50 vision means for the stakes at play and further deep dive on a specific subject for each of the components mentioned by ED Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka.
Whether you'll be there in person or joining us virtually, make sure to follow us on our social channels (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn & Facebook) to keep up-to-date with all the sessions and speakers.
SHE Changes Climate URGENTLY needs your support to ensure the gender imbalance of decision making at COP26, doesn't go unnoticed. If your vision for the future includes gender equality, then join us and donate today.
